FECON CONTINUES TO MAKE ITS MARK IN THE GEOTECHNICAL FIELD WITH THE INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE GEOTEC HANOI 2023 AND CONQUERS MORE HEAVY INDUSTRY PROJECTS

In 2023, FECON successfully organized the 5th GEOTEC HANOI Conference at the National Convention Center with the content focusing on six major topics of geotechnics: Deep foundations; tunnel and underground construction; weak soil improvement, numerical modeling and geotechnical monitoring; landslides and erosion, offshore wind energy and coastal geotechnics. The conference gathered nearly 1,000 guests with 300 presentations by more than 800 authors and groups of authors from 41 countries around the world.

At the same time, FECON also implemented many heavy industrial projects such as: Nhon Trach 3, 4 Thermal Power Plant and Vung Ang 2 Thermal Power Plant, expanding the construction fields in key projects.

FECON becomes a reputable Contractor and Investor according to international standards, possessing excellent capacity in foundation and underground works.

On June 22, 2022, FECON officially signed a cooperation agreement for joint development with Corio Generation Group - a business specializing in offshore wind power, exploiting renewable energy worldwide.

FECON is the contractor selected to implement Package CP03 at Metro Line 3 (Nhon - Ha Noi Station). FECON will be responsible for the construction of the Voi Phuc - Tran Hung Dao tunnel section. In particular, FECON will participate in assembling and directly operating the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) shield robot - a modern tunnel boring technology in the world.

FECON officially entered the renewable energy investment sector and became a leading infrastructure construction contractor in Vietnam

2018 marked new steps for FECON in its strategy to expand investment in energy infrastructure when Vinh Hao 6 Solar Power Plant completed legal procedures for construction. With a total expected investment capital of VND 1,361 billion, a designed capacity of 50 MWp, and an expected electricity output of 83 million kWh/year, Vinh Hao 6 will bring long-term and sustainable profits to the company. At the same time, FECON is also continuing to research other renewable energy investment projects such as Vinh Hao 6 (phase 2), wind power projects in Gia Lai, Kon Tum, Ben Tre.

2018 also marked a strong change in the project management and construction team at FECON. Construction teams and project boards were restructured to streamline and professionalize the team towards the goal of strongly improving business efficiency and labor productivity. The direct workforce is gradually being transferred to specialized jobs. The professional project management force is strongly developed at the parent company with the goal of making the company a main contractor and general contractor in urban infrastructure projects, traffic infrastructure, civil and industrial construction in addition to continuing to consolidate, promote and develop the strengths of foundations and underground works.

2017, FECON marks an important step in the field of underground construction, gradually conquer the goal of becoming a leading group in infrastructure construction by 2020

In 2017, FECON became the first Vietnamese contractor to operate the Tunnel boring machine (TBM) at Metro Line 1 TP. Ho Chi Minh City, marked a milestone in the field of underground construction.

With the aim of becoming the leading group in infrastructure construction in Vietnam by 2020, FECON has signed cooperation agreement with NEXCO and JEXWAY (Japan) in May 2017 to develop transportation infrastructure projects in Vietnam and completed the transfer 20% stake of Phu Ly BOT project.

2017 is also the year FECON signed memorandum of cooperation with ACWA Power Group (Saudi Arabia) to increase investment resources in the Vinh Hao 6 Solar project and other renewable energy projects in Vietnam. The investment project of Vinh Hao 6 Solar Power Plant has officially started by the end of 2017.

May 6th, 2016 - Change the company's name to "FECON CORPORATION" (FECON CORP)

On May 6, 2016, FECON has officially changed its name, from "FECON FOUNDATION ENGINEERING AND UNDERGROUND CONSTRUCTION JSC" to "FECON CORPORATION" (FECON CORP).

FECON, now seeks to expand into the infrastructures of urban areas, the environment and energy so that it can become one of the leading infrastructure firms by 2020.

2014 - Strategic investments in leading companies in infrastructure is TEDI, CIENCO1

      FECON has realized ambition to become the leading company in Vietnam in infrastructure in 2020 through the purchase of its 10% stake in Construction Corporation No 1 (Cienco 1) and 25.76 % of shares in the Corporation Design Consultant transport (TEDI).  

Contribute to National Highway No.1, Phu Ly bypass section construction investment project 

  This is the first project implemented by the consortium of Employer – Contractor FCC, including: FECON Foundation Engineering and Underground Construction JSC (FECON), Cotec Construction JSC (COTECCONS) and Civil Engineering Corporation No.1 (CIENCO 1). In which, the rate of capital contribution is FECON: 40% , COTECCONS: 35%  and CIENCO 1: 25%.  

Improve the efficiency of management by the Management system project SAP ERP 

  On July 17, 2014, at Crowne Plaza West, Hanoi, there took place the launching ceremony of the management system project SAP ERP between FECON JSC and FPT Infomation System. This step would help FECON strongly improve the efficiency of management, resource optimizing, particularly in the context of the change of market.  

Received a strategic investment of DJ for the expansion to the international cooperation on the market 

  Afternoon 06/13/2014, FECON Foundation Engineering and Underground Construction JSC (ticker: FCN) has formally signed a strategic investment cooperation with the Development Bank of Japan - DBJ. Under the agreement, South East Asia- Japan Development Foundation's DBJ would invest in the issuance of convertible bonds of FECON 2014 with investment worth about 195 billion, thereby becoming strategic investors of FECON.

2013 - Established FECON Nghi Son JSC meeting Middle of Vietnam 

  FECON Nghi Son JSC is a subsidary company of FECON Mining JSC, established in may 2013 and located in Nghi Son economic zone, Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa province. With production line of PC/PHC pile (diameter: 500-800mm, total capacity: 4000m/day), FECON Nghi Son JSC supplies pre-stressed concrete spun pile for the Middle of Vietnam, Central Highland and Laos markets.

 

Purchased Hai Dang - Thanh Hoa quarry 

In late 2013, with the objective of ensuring the input materials to the two plant manufacturing PC/PHC pile in Kim Bang, Ha Nam and Nghi Son, Thanh Hoa, FECON Mining had resolved to buy 55% stake Hai Dang. Quarries and processing of FECON park has a total area of up to 66 hectares, with reserves of over 5 million m3 of limestone. In preparation for the field goes into production, FECON had more than 40,000 m3 of rock to open the road and mine construction. By design, stone processing line with a capacity of 500 tons/hour, when in operation will provide to market 60,000 to 80,000 m3 all kinds of stone product per month.

Became member of the International Tunneling and Underground Space Association 

June 27, 2012, International Tunneling and Underground Space Association (ITA-AITES) has officially accepted a request of FECON Foundation Engineering and Underground Construction JSC for membership as a Corporate Affiliate Member. Becoming an official member of the ITA-AITES means a great deal to FECON, displaying the Board of Managers’ vision and commitment as well as all employees’ in realizing one of FECON business strategies in the year period from 2012 to 2015. It is that FECON will actively begin designing and construction for tunnels in soft soil. Reportedly, International Tunneling and Underground Space Association ITA-AITES has 64 nation members and 310 corporate members and individuals, in which FECON is the first enterprise in Vietnam officially becoming the corporate member of the ITA-AITES until now.

 

2011 - Take Line 2 plant capacity piles Henan FECON 5,000 meters long piles/day into operation 

 Founded FECON Miltec  

FECON Miltec JSC was founded in November 2011, based on joint venture agreement between FECON Foundation Engineering and Underground Construction JSC and Chikami Miltec Inc Company(Japan). With capacity of 3.5 million meters/month, FECON Miltec supplies PVD products in compliance with Japanese and international standards for soft soil improvement, as well as provide for domestic market and export.

2010 - Establishing Institute of Foundation and Underground Engineering FECON

Founded 2/2010, Institute of Foundation and Underground Engineering FECON is the first research institute in a construction business in Vietnam. The mission of the Institute is to conduct foundation investigation, testing ans designing and promote researching and applying the most advanced technologies in the field of foundations, underground construction and infrastructure development closed floor oriented technology for the rapid and sustainable development of the FECON’s system.

2009 - Founded FECON - Shanghai Harbour Soil Improvement JSC 

After completion of the factory FECON-Pile, just only served ABB construction, the world recession and the Great Depression in Vietnam got  FECON into trouble. A series of signed contracts were canceled or postponed, while no less capital and labor had spent.

In the second half of 2009, thanks to the bold introduction of new technologies – soft soil improvement by vacuum consolidation method - in Vietnam, FECON had been engaged in many big projects such as Nhon Trach 2 Thermal Power Plant, PVTex Dinh Vu - Hai Phong, LPG Thi Vai Cold Storage Ba Ria - Vung Tau. Revenue from Soil Improvement was capable of offsetting the shortage of other jobs array. Production and business atmosphere is regained quickly, faith is strengthened, people unite together accept the challenge. From this result, FECON with its partners from Shanghai to launch joint venture company FECON - Shanghai specializes in Soil Improvement.

2008 - Take line 1 FECON pile Henan factory capacity 3,000 meters long piles/day into operation

Marked a milestone in history: Inauguration of the first factory of the system FECON - Factory FECON-Pile (manufacturing of PC/PHC pre-stressed concrete spun pile) on natural time position in Henan favorable terrain. Even in this year, the Company received the Project ABB Tien Son-Bac Ninh, the first project to use branded FECON Pile pile. 

2006 - Starting receiving projects from foreign investors, mainly Japan

In 2006, the company  accessed to a series of works from the industrial park away: Que Vo - Bac Ninh, Nomura - Hai Phong, Nguyen Duc Canh - Thai Binh, Tan Truong - Hai Duong, Dong Vang - Bac Giang ... At the same time, FECON started getting projects of foreign investors, mainly Japan. The number of works plus increased exponentially, sales increased exponentially, the after year 2.5 times over the previous year. FECON respect and promote the activities of the community, society. In 2006, FECON started offering scholarships annually for students to overcome poverty in Y Yen District, Nam Dinh.

Expanding business areas including pile driver, pile testing and soil investigation 

With effort and determination of a team of engineers as well as Directorate, in 2005, the company's projects increased significantly, field activities were also expanded, including pile driver, pile testing and soil investigation. HR up to 30 people, with sales up 2.5 times from the previous year, the total value of assets also doubled.

06/2004 - FECON was founded by a group of engineers and leading experts

FECON was established on 18/6/2004 by a group of highly qualified engineers and leading experts in the field of foundation engineering and underground construction. With the total capital of 2.5 billion VND, FECON started up with the first project of Big C Supermarket Center - Tran Duy Hung. After that, success in Melinh Plaza Hypermarket and Metro 2 Supermarket – Hanoi projects brought to FECON 5 billion of revenues. Means of transport at that time were motorcycles, bicycles and buses.
