From November 22 to 24, 2024, the Youth Union of FECON Joint Stock Company, in collaboration with the Youth Unions of the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), the PetroVietnam Chemical and Services Corporation (PVChem), and the Drug Crime Investigation Police Department (C04), successfully organized the 'Ao am mua dong 2024’ social welfare program in Mu Ca Commune, Muong Te District, Lai Chau Province.

With the mission of bringing warmth to children in highland areas during the harsh winter, the FECON Youth Union and its partners traversed nearly 600 km to visit and deliver 815 warm clothing sets to 815 students. Additionally, 50 scholarships were awarded to 50 underprivileged students at the Mu Ca Commune kindergartens, primary, and secondary boarding schools.

Alongside these efforts, the delegation, in cooperation with the Youth Unions of Muong Te District and Lai Chau Province, inaugurated the 'Lighting Up the Border' project, which installed 35 streetlights, as well as the 'Border Floral Road' project, with a total investment exceeding 60 million VND. These initiatives contribute to enhancing the local infrastructure and improving the quality of life for the residents of Mu Ca and Ma Ky villages.

During this mission, the delegation also signed an agreement under the 'Green Heart' program to provide financial support for three years to Ly Nhat Duy, a four-year-old orphan in Can Ho Commune, Muong Te District, ensuring better living conditions and access to education.

Furthermore, FECON employees participated in on-site training sessions, gaining valuable insights from VPI experts on geological sciences, oil and gas exploration, and extraction in Vietnam. The delegation also visited and presented gifts to the officers and soldiers of the Mu Ca Border Guard Station, who are responsible for safeguarding nearly six kilometers of borderland, including three border markers within Mu Ca Commune.

Covering an area of 381.7 km² with a 5.663 km-long border, Mu Ca Commune is home to five ethnic groups: Ha Nhi, La Hu, Kinh, Mong, and Thai, with the Ha Nhi people comprising 98% of the population. The commune currently has 815 households with a population of 2,976, of which 446 are classified as impoverished, 40 as near-poor, and 10 families, including 36 children, facing extreme hardship. The region is characterized by steep terrain and sparsely populated settlements, where agriculture remains the primary means of subsistence.

Through this program, FECON and partners provided immediate relief to local students by equipping them with warm clothing ahead of the severe winter and reinforced their commitment to fostering community well-being. The project underscores the role and responsibility of youth members in social activities, promoting a culture of giving back to the community.

The 'Ao am mua dong' program has been a long-standing initiative of the FECON Youth Union, with its success attributed not only to the dedication of FECON’s youth members but also to the strong support from the company’s leadership and employees. Their material and moral backing helped spread the spirit of solidarity throughout Vietnam.
