October 25, 2024, in Hanoi, FECON Group successfully held the 9th FECON Construction Technology Summit in a hybrid format, combining both online and onsite participation.

The summit welcomed the participation of leading professors and experts in the construction industry, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Bá Kế – Chairman of FECON's Scientific Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Minh Toan – Member of FECON's Scientific Council, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Huu Dau – Member of FECON's Scientific Council, and Dr. Phùng Duc Long – President of the Vietnam Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (VSSMGE). The event also gathered representatives from partner enterprises and more than 180 engineers from both domestic and international markets.

On behalf of FECON, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors Tran Trong Thang, Deputy General Director Do Manh Cuong, and many senior engineers of the Group attended the summit.

Having successfully hosted eight previous editions, the FECON Construction Technology Summit has significantly contributed to advancing infrastructure construction technologies, with a strong focus on underground infrastructure solutions for both the Group and the construction industry as a whole.

Building upon these achievements, the 9th FECON Construction Technology Summit continues to reaffirm its mission of promoting scientific research and technological innovation in key areas such as TBM tunneling, high-speed railway construction, offshore wind farm foundation design, and construction, as well as smart monitoring and automation technologies in construction.

With these strategic orientations, this year’s summit focused on presenting reports and in-depth discussions on the following key topics: (1) Application of large-diameter CDM pile construction technology (RAS) at Berths No. 5 and 6 of Lạch Huyện Port, Hải Phòng City; (2) Implementation of digital monitoring technology in Phase IV of Shanghai Pudong Airport; (3) TBM tunneling experience from the first underground drilling phase of Hanoi Metro Line 3; (4) Selection of shield machines/hard rock TBMs and innovations in operation methods; (5) Overview of China’s high-speed rail system and the application of geosynthetic-reinforced pile-supported (GRPS) ground improvement methods; (6) Discussion on engineering practices and foundation structure development for offshore wind power projects in China.

FECON experts and engineers engaged in vibrant discussions and knowledge exchange on RAS pile construction technology and TBM operation, drawing insights from major practical projects such as Lạch Huyện Berths No. 5 & 6 and Hanoi Metro Line 3.

Additionally, experts from leading Chinese corporations, companies, and research institutes—including PowerChina, Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd. (SGIDI), Guangzhou Underground Railway Construction Consulting Co., Ltd., Sichuan Academy of Science & Engineering, and China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd.—shared valuable expertise and real-world insights on critical topics such as offshore wind power, high-speed railway construction, and smart monitoring solutions.

Numerous discussions revolved around the feasibility of applying smart monitoring technologies and high-speed railway construction in Vietnam, particularly within FECON's projects, over the next 3-5 years. With FECON’s strategic focus on developing construction capabilities to participate in Vietnam’s key high-speed railway projects, the insights shared by the Sichuan Academy of Science & Engineering and China Railway Fourth Survey and Design Institute Group Co., Ltd. provided invaluable expertise. These contributions serve as a foundation for FECON to adapt, learn, and seize future opportunities in the sector.

By presenting in-depth scientific and technological discussions within the construction industry, FECON reaffirms its strong commitment to adopting the latest global construction technologies to enhance project quality and elevate Vietnam’s construction sector to new heights.

Over the years, the FECON Construction Technology Summit has established itself as a highly valuable professional forum for the company’s engineers. It serves as a platform for engineers to exchange practical on-site experiences, explore advanced technical solutions, and stay updated on the latest developments in construction technology—aligning with FECON’s vision for innovation and excellence.

Speaking at the summit, Mr. Do Manh Cuong, Deputy General Director of FECON, stated: "Building on the success of the past eight editions, FECON is honored to collaborate with leading Chinese corporations and regional firms specializing in surveying, design, and underground construction—such as PowerChina and SGIDI. This summit provides a meaningful scientific platform for knowledge-sharing, fostering research passion, and contributing to the development of sustainable infrastructure that meets Vietnam’s growing needs.”
